Meet Our Teachers

HELENA
HELENA PRINCIPAL
Helena worked for 8 years as a teacher before joining Harvest Seedlings Pre-school as the principal in 2018. Helena worked with children ages 3 months to Grade R. Helena knew she wanted to be a teacher from a young age, having struggled as a student and having seen first-hand the power of good educators and their ability to make learning fun and enjoyable for all students. Knowing that she wanted to be able to build confidence in children the way her favourite teachers did for her, Helena went on to study Early Childhood  Development. Helena enjoys instilling the same love of learning she does with our students with her one-eight-year old daughter, Ava, with whom she explores the parks and hiking trails beyond the city limits.

She always had a love for working with young children and wanted to spend time learning about and nurturing their development, so decided working in a school setting would be great for her. Lerato was born and raised in Limpopo and loves to keep exploring the city and all its changes when she’s not at school. Lerato likes to spend time alone.
CONSTANCE

This will be Constance’s 7th year teaching! Constance received her Certificate in Early Childhood Education. Constance takes care of our group 2- 3 years. This is her 4th year at Harvest Seedlings Pre-school. She discovered her love for teaching at a very young age, and through various experiences in preschool and after-school programs, she knew working with young children was her career. Aside from teaching, Constance also enjoys trying the many different things that life has to offer and spending quality time with friends and family.

MUSIC AND SINGING

Vet Kat Musiekstudio has been with Harvest Seedlings for 7 years, Susan the music instructor comes to school weekly on a Wednesday and has an interactive lesson with all the children, starting from 2 years old. Her lessons are fun and children really enjoy learning to read music and understand rhythm and beat. Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. For children and adults, music helps strengthen memory skills. In addition to the developmental benefits, simply put: music brings us joy.
